Here are a few of the sites I've found particularly helpful.
  • Flinchum Photography - John Flinchum does fine color and black and white work both in the U.S. and - especially - Africa.
  • John Shaw Photography - Excellent landscape, nature and macro photography. His books on how to be a better photographer are exceptional. His eBook "John Shaw's Photoshop Guide" provides clear and practical guidance about the digital darkroom for nature photographers.
  • Lucid Images Wildlife Photography - Diverse nature and wildlife photography by
Jan A. Allinder. Her site also includes excellent articles and product reviews. Jan's eBook "A Photographer's Guide to Website Design" is a very helpful guide for anyone developing a photo website. If you've ever lost a digital image, see her review of Photo Rescue 2 software. In my case, I reformatted a compact flash card and, to my horror, realized I'd wiped out over a 100 photos I'd shot in Russia. A year later, after reading Jan's article, I bought Photo Rescue 2, took the compact flash card from a drawer where I'd tossed it, and recovered all that I thought I'd lost.
  • Digital Light and Color - This site offers Picture Window Pro, software that has all the capability of Photoshop for fine art photography at a fraction of the cost.
  • Norman Koren Photography - A fine photographer who offers a broad array of very informative and helpful tutorials on photography and the digital darkroom.
  • Ken Rockwell Photography - Ken Rockwell offers good advice on how to do anything photographic, writes exhaustive reviews on recent innovations in selected digital cameras and lenses and does so with a sharp sense of humor. Worth your time.
  • Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris - An excellent source for nature photography seminars and field tours, helpful photo articles and other photo travel information.
  • On Exposure.net - A special website whose editors accept only the best work submitted by advanced amateur photographers. There are forums where you can submit your work for comment by other photographers and offer your own comments on work done by others as well. It is an exceptional site and well worth investigating.
